Excel version

The Online version and Excel version both cover the same cases. The Excel version has additional information, including case numbers, GVKeys, Compustat years, and specific filing and termination dates. The Excel version is available only if the requester:

  1. Is a researcher affiliated with a university, government agency, or not-for-profit organization
  2. Provides an email address and URL that shows the affiliation
  3. Identifies the research project, and
  4. Intends to publish the results

Terms and Conditions of Use

The requesting individual agrees that Lynn M. LoPucki has compiled, from published and nonpublished sources, at considerable expense, a Bankruptcy Research Database, that the requesting individual wishes to view and use that database, and that Lynn M. LoPucki is unwilling to permit such viewing or use without the undersigned's agreement to protect the confidentiality and proprietary value of the data. Accordingly, the requesting individual agrees:

  1. Non-disclosure. He or she will not disclose the database or data from the database to any person who has not consented to these conditions of use, except as otherwise provided below. The requesting individual may disclose the database or data to a co-researcher or research assistant, but only for the purpose of the requesting individual's research and only if that person first agrees not to disclose the database or data to any other person.
     
  2. Scope of authorization. The requesting individual agrees to use the data only in connection with the research project described or to identify future projects for research..
     
  3. Acknowledgment. In any publication or posting that includes data from the BRD, the requesting individual agrees to acknowledge "Lynn M. LoPucki's Bankruptcy Research Database," by that or equivalent language, as the source of the data.
     
  4. Publication of data. The requesting individual may publish all or any portion of the data in any article published in an academic journal that regularly publishes research by university professors. In addition, the requesting individual may publish, by web posting, only that portion of the data necessary to reproduce the research results.
